This fund provides students with up to $250 toward textbooks. Arthor was an alumnus from the class of 2008 Who passed away.  He was a very active student leader in the Intercultural center and other areas of campus, such as the High Potential Program, 学生会, and Catholic Institute for Lasallian 社会行动.  He went on to become a Lasallian volunteer and then a teacher for The Doe Fund, an organization in New York that works to break the cycles of homelessness, 上瘾, and criminal recidivism.

传记

Arthor 科里 was born on October 16, 1986年在诺瓦托, CA to the late Darlene Winn-科里 and Arthor R. 科里.  His parents preceded him in death in January 1988 and April 1991, respectively.  Arthor was the only child born to this union.  Following his mother’s death in 1991, Arthor began living with his aunt and legal guardian, 安妮特•韦恩, 四岁的时候.  Annette raised Arthor as her own son and honored her sister’s wishes by keeping him connected to his family, church and attending college.

In 2004, Arthor enrolled at Saint Mary’s College of California where he was heavily involved in numerous campus groups and departments, including but not limited to the 招生 Office, Associated Students, Black Student Union, Catholic Institute for Lasallian 社会行动, High Potential Program, Intercultural Center, New Student and Family 项目, 还有更多.  In 2007, Arthor attended American University in Washington, DC for a semester and returned the following semester to complete his education at his beloved Saint Mary’s College.

After graduating from Saint Mary’s in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Communication, Arthor left California and moved to Newburgh, NY where he became a Lasallian Volunteer.  He worked as a teacher and Student 服务 Coordinator at the San Miguel Academy.  自2009年以来, Arthor has supported the Lasallian Volunteers (LV), assisting at LV retreats as an LV 校友 Mentor.  His last place of employment was at the the Doe Fund Inc. as a Computer Instructor. 

Arthor is survived by his mother, 安妮特•韦恩, and his only brother, Malcolm Hollins.  作为领导者, Arthor was a loving, 充满深情的, and good-hearted person who would go out of his way for almost anyone.  He was loved and adored by his friends and family.  He will truly be missed, and we honor his legacy through this book scholarship.

 


 

Application Criteria

  • Any undergraduate and graduate student with demonstrated financial need (verified by the 金融援助 Office) 
  • Good academic standing
  • No unresolved conduct issues
  • Applies only to fall and spring semesters (No Jan term) 
  • 每名学生上限: 1 semester per academic year/every other semester
  • Max # of times student can receive scholarship: 3
  • Only complete applications 会被考虑
  • First 20 eligible applicants 会被考虑

Scholarship Guidelines

  • The funds from this scholarship must only be applied to required or recommended textbooks being used for a course. No other items may be purchased.
  • The funds must be used by mid-semester. For the fall, it is October 15. For the Spring, it is March 15. No purchases using the funds can be made after these dates.
